Bangladeshi students advised to seek careers in the RMG sector
As international firms are increasingly turning to Bangladesh as an alternative destination to China to source garments, the demand for skilled workers is increasing. With a staggering 40% growth last year, indicating the end of a worldwide recession, and after becoming the No.1 exporting country to the Europe, the garment and textile sector of the country is currently facing a severe shortage of middle level personnel.
Thus according to an expert, whilst students face severe problems in choosing the right career, they may consider a career in the garments and textiles sector, which will not only reap them better rewards but could also increase their chances in becoming a future entrepreneur, after gaining sufficient expertise.
To increase their chances of getting a job in this sector, the expert further advises that graduates enroll for diploma and short term courses which will not only provide formal, but technical knowledge as well.
The industry, currently the top export sector of the country is set to reach exports of over $35 billion over the next four to five years and as such the prospects for graduates is extremely good.
